The sacrament of Confirmation seals the recipient with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Along with the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, it makes up the sacraments of Christian Initiation. Moreover, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace (CCC 1285)."
Sacramental Preparation
The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated at the end of the 8th grade. Sacramental preparation begins in the 7th grade and enrollment in Faith Formation - the EDGE middle school youth ministry - is required during both years of this two-year preparation period.
The EDGE is a fun- and spiritually-filled Catholic middle school youth ministry experience for early adolescents in the 7th and 8th grades. It is designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional and social needs of young adolescents in one dynamic process through large group interaction, small group breakouts, catechetical themes, faith sharing, music, prayer, scripture, and social activities each week from mid-September through mid-May, as well as service projects, retreats, prayer services and social events throughout the year.To learn more about receiving the sacrament of Confirmation at the end of the 8th grade, Contact Us or visit the EDGE Middle School Ministry (Grades 7 - 8) page.

Adults and teens beyond the 8th grade that have received the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist can complete the sacraments of Christian Initiation and receive the sacrament of Confirmation by attending the Adult / Teen Confirmation Preparation Class.
