Lenten Soup and Bread
Each Friday during Lent, second graders and their families serve soup and bread dinners in the Social Hall to parishioners following Stations of the Cross.
Each class is assigned to one Friday. A schedule appears in the Calendar on the Grade 2 page. Please arrive by 6:15 PM. Stations of the Cross begins in the church at 6:30 PM. Soup and bread begins at 7:00 PM.
Second graders (and their families) will be responsible for setting up, serving, and cleaning up. Families are encouraged to attend the Stations of the Cross prior to the dinner. To learn more about the Stations of the Cross during Fridays of Lent, visit the Lenten Services page.
Each family should bring:
- One crock pot of meatless soup to serve 10 - 12 people. Please use only vegetable broth as a base. Some meatless soup suggestions include:
- Cream of broccoli
- Cream of potato
- Clam chowder
- Egg drop
- Cheese tortellini
- Two loaves of sliced bread (such as French, sourdough, etc.)
- No margarine or butter. We are in the Lenten season of simplicity.
